Francesco Tafuri . Education: PhD in Physics, University of Napoli Federico II (1993) (in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (1990) and New York State University at Stony Brook (1992)). Visiting Scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, NY, USA in 2001. FT was awarded a Fulbright grant. He is Full Professor University of Napoli Federico II since 2016 (habilitation in 2013) after being Assistant and Associate Professor at Seconda UniversitĂ  di Napoli.

His scientific interests fall in the field of Superconductivity and Quantum Technologies, investigating superconducting qubits, macroscopic quantum phenomena and the rf Josephson effect in hybrid devices, new routes for the realization of superconducting qubits, read-out and parametric amplifiers for hybrid architectures, qubit integration with superconducting electronics, mesoscopic and nanoscale systems, high critical temperature superconductors, unconventional superconductivity, advanced superconducting materials for quantum applications. Worldwide expert on the Josephson effect, used in all types of superconducting qubits, international acknowledged contributions on the physics of the Josephson effect and on vortex matter in high critical temperature superconductors and unconventional systems.

FT has played a major role in several national and international projects and is Member of the panel on “Quantum Technologies” for the National Italian research Plan PNR 2021-2027. He serves as a Peer Reviewer of National (in Italy, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, UK) and European projects (ERC, ITN, various calls of Horizon2020), he has served as Reviewer for Agenzia Nazionale per la Valutazione del sistema Universitario e della Ricerca di prodotti VQR 2004-2010 and VQR 2011-2014 and is currently GEV Member for evaluation of VQR 2015-2019. He is Associate Editor of Journal of Superconductivity- Springer, reviewer of scientific journals, Chair and co-Chair of about 10 international conferences and participation in various Conference Program Committees and Editorial Boards, in different types of international committees.

He is National Coordinator of the Italian PhD program on “Quantum Technologies” (University of Napoli Federico II, University of Camerino and CNR) and he is promoting a new Master Program on “Quantum Science and Engineering” at the University of Napoli.

FT is author of >185 publications on international journals and book chapters, including 15 papers on Science/Nat.Mat./Nat.Comm./PRL, >30 manuscripts in APS-PRB, Editor of the book “Fundamentals and Frontiers of the Josephson Effect” (https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783030207243). He has given more than 90 invited talks at international conferences and research institutes.

Several manuscripts (about 100) are the product of international collaborations.
